Habakkuk 3:17-19

和合本NKJV
17 雖 然 無 花 果 樹 不 發 旺 , 葡 萄 樹 不 結 果 , 橄 欖 樹 也 不 效 力 , 田 地 不 出 糧 食 , 圈 中 絕 了 羊 , 棚 內 也 沒 有 牛 ;

17 Though the fig tree may not blossom,
      Nor fruit be on the vines;
      Though the labor of the olive may fail,
      And the fields yield no food;
      Though the flock may be cut off from the fold,
      And there be no herd in the stalls —

18 Yet I will rejoice in the LORD,
      I will joy in the God of my salvation.

19 The LORD God is my strength;
      He will make my feet like deer’s feet,
      And He will make me walk on my high hills.
      To the Chief Musician. With my stringed instruments.

The LORD God is my strength; He will make my feet like deer’s feet, and He will make me walk on my high hills.

The prophet Habakkuk received an oracle from God that God would first raise up the Chaldeans, who were more ruthless and impetuous than the Israelites, to annex Judah, as judgment to the violence and wrongs of Judah, before the Chaldeans were judged for their pride and not being upright in soul. Habakkuk knew clearly that the righteous shall live by his faith, so he prayed and praised God in psalm, of which this scripture is the last 3 verses. Habakkuk knew that the land would first become desolate before the salvation of God would arrive, and even though there would be nothing to eat, he was still full of faith, still rejoiced in God, and truly believed that God would keep the righteous from all kinds of evils. You and I are partners walking in the heavenly path, and before we see the face of our Lord, we will encounter tribulation and persecution -- the world has hated us because we are not of the world, just as Jesus is not of the world -- do we have the same faith as Habakkuk, no matter who, what, when or where, nothing could separate us from the love of God? When we face difficulties or frustration, when it is dire circumstance ahead, can we be like Habakkuk to rejoice in God and to live by faith? Praise God, for He is righteous, the wicked cannot stand for long; praise God, for He is our joy, and He is our strength; praise God, He justified us by faith, and enabled us to live by faith; praise God, He is God who saves us -- our Redeemer lives, and He shall stand at last on earth, and in my flesh I shall see God with my eyes!
